Sign program in a restored, historic building

Project Interior and Donor Recognition Sign Program, Morse Institute Library, Natick, Massachusetts

Architect Tappe and Associates Boston, Massachusetts

Whitney Veigas was retained by the town of Natick, Massachusetts to design, supply and install signs and donor plaques for their newly-expanded library.

A new addition, wrapping around two sides of the Victorian era original building, more than doubled the library space. A three story glass atrium, separating the new from the old building, clearly expressed the layout of the spaces, so minimum directional signs were needed. Room identification signs were painted a custom teal green to match the door frames, with polished brass accent headers to match the polished brass door hardware. Overhead signs, suspended in major open spaces, clarified the locations of the library materials. Supplementing these were countertop blocks, that sat on top of bookshelves, with categories of library materials. Donor recognition plaques were executed in etched satin bronze, with beveled edges and polished, black, acrylic backplates.
