Scandinavian Living Center

Before its renovation and expansion, the Swedish Home was a sleepy nursing-care facility in an old manor house. By combining resources with a Norwegian nursing home and other civic groups, a new living center was created with 40 independent apartments, a Nordic Hall, and a traditional "Kaffe Stuga". Whitney Veigas designed, supplied, and installed a program of interior, exterior, and donor recognition signs for this project.

Our solution
We used Alumigraph, an interior sign system, in a cream background color with surface printed and tactile lettering. Signs at major destinations were mounted on natural finish maple wood back panels. The stylized Viking dragon head added a unique graphic accent to the signs. Donor plaques at each residence unit were etched and infilled satin bronze plates, mounted on standard Alumigraph holders.
