The 7 steps
Creating A Sign Program
Creation of a sign program involves seven steps. Whitney Veigas can be involved in all or some of the steps, depending upon the structure of a specific project.
Programming Visit the facility to become familiar with its operation and architectural details. Determine the project requirements with the owner and/or his representative. Determine the regulations that apply.
Conceptual Design Illustrate a family of sign types, and show on a plan the location of each sign. List each sign, and its message on a detailed sign schedule for review by the owner or his agent. Prepare a cost estimate, based upon the scope defined in the sign schedule.
Design Development Make refinements to the conceptual design. Revise the sign types and sign schedule as required. Prepare a firm price quotation for review by the owner.
Construction Drawings Prepare construction drawings and specifications for ordering, fabrication, and installation.
Purchasing Obtain all needed signs and components.
Installation Install all signs according to the sign schedule, and the mounting details in the construction drawings.
Reordering Set-up a formal reordering process for the facility operator that includes the method of ordering additional signs, and changing the message on an existing sign.
