Whitney Veigas was engaged by the college to design, procure and install signs and recognition graphics for this new 16 story building. The upper 12 floors housed students in traditional one and two bed rooms. An all-campus dining facility occupied floors 2 and 3, while high tech sound recording studios were located in two sub-basements.
The interior room identification signs were intentionally designed to be subdued, simple, flat rectangles with a light grey metallic paint finish. Named spaces were handled with clear panels, with black and white photos of alumni and faculty members, and installed on bright red walls. A significant effort was made in studying the height, depth, spacing, color and lighting of the canopy mounted letters, including full size foam core mockups.
